December 28, 2016 Victoria, BC Parks Canada Agency
A new year means a new chance to plan ahead and reserve your Parks Canada campsites and overnight accommodations for the year ahead. Parks Canada is expecting extra demand this year as the Government of Canada is celebrating the country’s 150th anniversary with free entry to all Parks Canada places. While camping fees and West Coast Trail permit fees remain in place, the daily admission fee to experience these places will be waived throughout 2017.
Campsites in Gulf Islands National Park Reserve as well as oTENTiks at Fort Langley and Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sites open on January 3rd at 8 a.m. On January 9th, reservations for the West Coast Trail, along with campsites in Green Point Campground near Tofino’s Long Beach in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve will become available at 8 a.m.
Parks Canada brings these iconic Canadian experiences within your reach through reasonable rates and a range of camping options for the 2017 visitor season.

Quick Facts
- Gulf Islands National Park Reserve is making it easier to plan backcountry trips and multi-day paddles through the park reserve with new options to reserve sites at Narvaez Bay Campground on Saturna Island and Beaumont Campground on Pender Island. These oceanside locations are in addition to the existing sites that can be reserved on Sidney Island, McDonald Campground in North Saanich, and North Pender Island’s Shingle Bay and Prior Centennial campgrounds.
- Pacific Rim National Park Reserve’s Green Point Campground is in a prime location in the rainforest behind world-famous Long Beach. It boasts newly upgraded sites ideal for RVs and tents alike. And there are now showers and electrical hook-ups at the campground.
- Canada’s iconic West Coast Trail in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, offers a challenging and stunning adventure for experienced hikers. Visitors can reserve their spots to begin their full or half-trail hike at one of 3 locations: Gordon River in Port Renfrew, Nitinaht Narrows, or Pachena Bay in Bamfield.
- Both Fort Langley and Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sites have cozy cabin-like oTENTiks nestled in a dramatic historic setting for a surreal and comfortable overnight experience.
