News Release
Come and celebrate Canada 150 with us all summer long!
May 15, 2017 Chambly, Quebec Parks Canada Agency
To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation, the Government is very pleased to offer free admission to all Parks Canada places in 2017. The FREE Parks Canada 2017 Discovery Pass provides unlimited opportunities to enjoy national parks, historic sites, and marine conservation areas across the country.
A rich and varied program awaits visitors to Parks Canada national historic sites in the Richelieu Valley again this year!
At the Fort Chambly National Historic Site, Parks Canada is launching the celebrations by inviting the public on Saturday May 20 to take part in the second edition of the Spring Festival. The program will feature reenactments, musical entertainment, visits of exhibits, the planting of a heritage vegetable garden, and the traditional celebration of planting in May. Family activities and entertainment for children are planned from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of national historic sites, a picnic will be held on July 8 at Fort Chambly under the theme I love my fort!
At the Fort Lennox National Historic Site, activities will begin on May 22 for a season featuring the return of the Saint-Paul-de-l’Île-aux-Noix Nautical Festival on July 8 and 9. It will be preceded by an outdoor supper on the island on July 7. During this special year, Parks Canada is continuing to invest in the conservation of national historic sites to preserve our heritage and strengthen their appeal as places representative of our nation. For this reason, the Fort Lennox season will, exceptionally, end early on September 4 to allow for important restoration work.
To ensure the best possible experience, visitors are encouraged to plan their visit ahead of time through the Parks Canada website.
