News Release
June 14, 2017 Charlottetown, P.E.I. Parks Canada Agency
To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation, the Government of Canada is very pleased to offer free admission to all Parks Canada places in 2017. The FREE Parks Canada 2017 Discovery Pass provides unlimited opportunities to enjoy national parks, historic sites and marine conservation areas across the country.
This year, Parks Canada sites in Prince Edward Island are offering new and innovative programs to enable more Canadians, including youth and newcomers, to experience the outdoors, learn more about our environment and experience Canada’s rich heritage.
Canada’s national parks and historic sites will play a big part in the celebration of Canada 150. This year, we will be hosting a number of special events in PEI National Park and you are invited! ParticipACTION is coming to Cavendish Beach on July 2 and two special Yoga on the Beach sessions will be held. On National Historic Site Day on July 8, come celebrate at Green Gables Heritage Place and learn how to make butter and ice cream. On July 15, enjoy Parks Day with our annual Great Island Sandcastle Competition at Brackley Beach. Check out our new accessible beach mats at Stanhope Beach as we launch them on Parks Day as well. Parks Canada will host Acadian Feast Day at Port-LaJoye–Fort Amherst National Historic Site on August 13.
To ensure the best possible experience, visitors are encouraged to plan their visit ahead of time through the Parks Canada website.
