June 14, 2017                                           Trois-Rivières, Quebec         Parks Canada Agency

Starting on June 17th, the Forges du Saint-Maurice National Historic Site will begin welcoming visitors for the 2017 season.

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation, the Government is very pleased to offer free admission to all Parks Canada places in 2017. The FREE Parks Canada 2017 Discovery Pass provides unlimited opportunities to enjoy national parks, historic sites, and marine conservation areas across the country.

Canada’s historic sites will play a big part in the celebration of Canada 150. This year, at the Forges du Saint-Maurice National Historic Site, a wide variety of programs is offered for the visitors.

On July 1st, visitors will have the opportunity to join in this year’s Canada Day festivities featuring special activities, workshops, music, and a cake tasting, and to receive celebratory temporary tattoos and surprise gifts. A family picnic will also be held for the feast of Saint Thibault on July 9th with family activities and performances to commemorate the Centennial of Canada’s National Historic Sites.

The Forges du Saint-Maurice National Historic Site is proud to build on partnerships with the region's main cultural players, including the International Festival of Poetry in Trois-Rivières, by inviting visitors to the site to leave a poetic thought which will be displayed at the festival, as well as Patrimoine Trois-Rivières, by participating in the Culture Days at the historic site on September 30th with the organization of the activities.

For more details on offered experiences and hours of operation, visitors are encouraged to plan their visit ahead of time through the Parks Canada’s website to ensure the best possible experience.

The FREE Parks Canada 2017 Discovery Pass is available from the Parks Canada’s Website as well as at Parks Canada’s entry gates and visitor centres. Partners such as Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) and CIBC will also be distributing passes for Parks Canada.

Please note that only admission is free for 2017. There are fees for enhanced interpretative programs.
