Parks Canada invites you to join us at Cavendish Campground at Prince Edward Island National Park for the Great Island Campout from September 1st to 3rd! We’ve packed all of our fun, family-friendly activities into one full weekend so gather up your friends, family, and camping gear and reserve your camping site at the national park.

The Great Island Campout includes favorites like SUNsational Sandcastles with Maurice Bernard, Campground Ceilidh with special guest Brian Dunn, a visit from John A. Macdonald and friends at Top Hat Time Machine, and a morning photo op with Anne of Green Gables and our favourite mascot, Parka. The Great Island Campout will also give visitors the opportunity to tour one of our oTENTiks a camping option that combines the excitement of a tent with the comfort of a cabin.

Parks Canada is also working with CBC for the Great Island Campout Cook-off Contest, which will be held August 22 – 28. Nominate your favourite camping recipes by emailing them to mainstreetpei@cbc.ca in the week leading up to the campout. Three winners will be randomly drawn and invited to prepare their chosen recipe for a panel of judges during a cook-off on Friday, September 1st at 6 p.m. at Cavendish Campground.

All three finalists will receive a free weekend of camping at Cavendish campground during the Great Island Campout and the public will be invited to watch the cook-off. The winning recipe will be featured in the 2018 PEI National Park Visitor Guide.

Join us on Labour Day weekend and take advantage of this full line-up of activities.
