The main entrance gate will be open every weekend from December to March to welcome visitors and provide information and passes.

Back again this winter are the ever-popular skating surface and path behind the Visitor Centre, and the skating surface on Clear Lake just off the main beach. Interpretative programming will be offered on scheduled weekends throughout the winter.

Riding Mountain offers a wide variety of other winter activities for visitors of all ages to enjoy, including cross-country skiing on groomed trails, snowshoeing, ice fishing, wildlife viewing, picnicking, and traction kiting. For more information on these activities, please check our website.

Quotes

“Riding Mountain National Park includes vast grasslands and parts of the boreal forest, and is home to an array of species from elk, moose, lynxes and even bison. This winter, it also offers an incredible escape for Canadians looking to enjoy the park’s natural wonders through skiing, snowshoeing, and cabins for overnight stays. I encourage Canadians to visit this incredible park. And starting in 2018, we are making this easier by offering free admission to all Parks Canada’s places for youth 17 and under.”

The Honourable Catherine McKenna,
Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Minister responsible for Parks Canada
