Fort Wellington will host three live theatre performances in July

You can help save the town at Fort Wellington National Historic Site through an interactive theatrical challenge where British forces and their allies battle to win the War of 1812. Parks Canada presents LiveHistory’s In Time 1812, which will bring Prescott’s rich local history to life right before your eyes. Prepare to take part in the action!

In this interactive and clue-based theatre, guests will experience and learn about Canadian history with the fresh twist of an escape room style production. The War of 1812 is raging on, and the audience is part of a secret task team, entrusted with saving the town of Prescott . General Brock and his protégé, Lt. Col Macdonell, arrive at Fort Wellington to scout the area for a potential attack. It quickly becomes apparent that there are a few people in the group who are not as they appear. Lives are at stake and the course of history could be changed.

Performances will take place on July 19th, 20th and 21st, starting at 7:00 p.m. Each show is distinct and will provide a different adventure for audiences. This new evening experience is a great way to enjoy Fort Wellington. By showcasing new and innovative programs such as In Time 1812, Parks Canada is encouraging more Canadians to connect and learn about our diverse history.

LiveHistory is a world-renowned historical theatre group that immerses the audience into the production for a truly unique experience. The action moves throughout Fort Wellington, using the historic buildings and artefacts to bring the past to life. Quick facts

  • Fort Wellington was built to protect the St. Lawrence River transportation route during periods of Canadian military conflict beginning with the War of 1812, through the Rebellions of 1837 up until Canadian Confederation in 1867.

  • Tickets for the LiveHistory show at Fort Wellington can be reserved by calling 613-925-2896 or emailing ont-wellington@pc.gc.ca. The cost per ticket is $18.60 plus tax for adults, $18.10 plus tax for seniors, $14.70 plus tax for youth, and $37.20 plus tax for families (2 adults and up to 5 kids).

  • Fort Wellington National Historic Site is located at 370 VanKoughnet Street in Prescott, Ontario, and is open 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from May 19th to October 8th, 2018. The site is open every day in July and August and closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays in May, June, September, and October.
