Government of Canada recognizes the National Historic Significance of Helen Creighton

Helen Creighton was a pioneering folklorist who devoted her life to preserving and promoting Nova Scotia’s unique folk culture. Between 1928 and 1975, her field research resulted in one of Canada’s largest collections of songs, tales, customs, and material culture.
Darren Fisher, Member of Parliament for Dartmouth – Cole Harbour, will take part in a Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada plaque unveiling ceremony to commemorate Helen Creighton as a person of national historic significance.
Mr. Fisher will make the announcement on behalf of the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change and Minister responsible for Parks Canada, Catherine McKenna.
