Enjoy campground activities from August 31 to September 2 at Prince Edward Island National Park

Parks Canada invites you to join us at Cavendish Campground in Prince Edward Island National Park for the Great Island Campout from August 31st to September 2nd! We’ve packed all of our fun, family-friendly activities into one full weekend so gather up your friends, family, and camping gear and reserve your campsite today!

The Great Island Campout includes classics such as Sensational Sandcastles with Maurice Bernard and Yoga on the Beach. A special edition of Campground Ceilidh will be featured as well as Beach Hut, and our new campfire program Tree Story. We’re also giving visitors the opportunity to tour an oTENTik, which is a camping option that combines the fun of a tent with the comfort of a cabin.This year, you can also take part in our brand new paint program, Canada on Canvas. This collaboration between Parks Canada and East Coast Art Party helps you paint a unique piece of art. With no experience necessary, visitors can get out of their comfort zone and create a masterpiece. Join us on Labour Day weekend and take advantage of this full line-up of activities. The Parks Canada’s mobile app is also available to be downloaded for more information about the breathtaking locations and hidden gems at national parks, historic sites, and marine conservation areas.

Quick facts

  • Visitors should note that camping fees apply. For more information on camping, trip planning, and activities in PEI National Park, please call 902-672-6350, visit the website: pc.gc.ca/pei and follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

  • At Prince Edward Island National Park, Cavendish Campground is open for camping until September 27th and Stanhope Campground is open until September 3rd.

  • Cavendish Campground is the largest campground in PEI National Park. It features over 250 sites and a breathtaking white sand beach. Exceptional recreational activities abound such as swimming or walking along the beach.

  • Late summer and early fall are the perfect time to enjoy the natural landscapes of PEI National Park by hiking or biking our 50 km of scenic trails. Our trails feature interpretive panels, breathtaking lookouts, and a variety of local landscapes.

  • The fee for Yoga on the Beach is $7.30 per person. Please bring a yoga mat and a towel. Reservations are required to attend Canada on Canvas. Please send your contact information to kimberlee.trainor@pc.gc.ca to make reservations. Cost is $44.25 per person, including taxes.
