Woodside is the boyhood home of William Lyon Mackenzie King, Canada's tenth, and longest-serving, Prime Minister. This lovingly preserved Victorian home, filled with King family heirlooms and period reproductions, recreates the ambiance of Canada’s Victorian era. Surrounded by 11.5 acres of mature woodland, the site is open for walking year-round. Visitors are encouraged to take in the many special programs offered during Woodside’s operational season, from the beginning of October to December 23rd.

Projects: Building and site grounds improvements

Projects description: As part of the federal infrastructure investment program, approximately $521,000 is being invested in Woodside National Historic Site, for a number of projects.

The infrastructure projects include:

  • replacement of 400 metres of heritage fencing, completed in 2017;

  • the installation of a new heritage roof on the Woodside house using cedar shakes, completed in June 2018;
