Government of Canada to Recognize Reader Rock Garden as Place of Historical Significance

Kent Hehr, Member of Parliament for Calgary Centre, will take part in a Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada plaque unveiling ceremony to commemorate Reader Rock Garden as a place of national historic significance.

In the mid-20th century, Reader Rock Garden was regarded as one of the most beautiful and successful gardens in Western Canada. It was designed by the late Calgary Parks Superintendent William Roland Reader, who developed the horticultural, ecological, and aesthetic possibilities of gardening in the harsh climate of Calgary.

Mr. Hehr will make the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Minister responsible for Parks Canada.
