Hike with Minister Catherine McKenna and high school students at Signal Hill National Historic Site

The Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Minister responsible for Parks Canada will participate in a hike at Signal Hill National Historic Site along with local high school students.

Members of the media are invited to join Minister McKenna and the students for a photo opportunity during the hike.

Signal Hill National Historic Site was part of harbour defences for St. John's from the 17th century to the Second World War when soldiers of The Royal Newfoundland Regiment manned fortifications. It is also the site where Guglielmo Marconi received the world's first transatlantic wireless signal in 1901.

Time:               Hike to start at 12:45 p.m. and finish at 1:45 p.m.

                        Media is asked to arrive by 12:30 p.m.

Location:         Visitor Centre Parking Lot

Signal Hill National Historic Site

St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador

Hike Itinerary: The hike will start at the Visitor Centre parking lot and proceed to Cabot Tower via the Queen’s Battery barracks.
