Spring has sprung in Fundy National Park - join us as we open campgrounds and many trails for the season this Victoria Day long weekend

Whether you’re looking for adventure, fun science activities for the whole family, a chance to explore history, or a break from the everyday, Parks Canada has 450 000 km² of protected areas with countless unique experiences to suit your needs.

Starting on May 17, Fundy National Park will open campgrounds and many trails for the 2019 visitor season. New this year, visitors looking for a challenge should hike or bike the Goose River Trail. Redeveloped as a multi-use trail, the newly re-routed trail hugs the dramatic Bay of Fundy coastline and travels through breathtaking river valleys such as Mile Brook. At just over 11km in length (one way), this trail is rated as difficult but the scenic reward makes up for the effort! As with all outdoor activities in a national park, be sure to stay safe: wear proper footwear, bring water and snacks and allow yourself enough time to reach your destination. 

Fundy National Park will also open a new Golf Pro Shop. The pro shop will offer improved services such as golf and tennis rental equipment, golf merchandise, as well as snacks and beverages. The 9-hole, Stanley Thompson designed Fundy National Park Golf Course provides a great way to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family.  

Love to find geocaches or practice orienteering? The May long weekend features the 10th Annual Fundy Mist Orienteering Weekend and the Fundy Geocache – two fun events for the whole family. These are held in partnership with Cache Up NB and Orienteering NB. Another noteworthy special event this summer is the park’s 10th annual Rising Tide Festival, to be held August 16-18 as hosted by the Friends of Fundy. Outdoor Elements, will be offering equipment rentals again this summer. They are located at Bennett Lake where you can rent kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and canoes. Now fully open, the Chignecto Recreation Area offers mountain bike rentals for youth and adults features a network of more than 30km of multi-use trails, in addition to a Pump Track.

Staying the night? We’ve got you covered! Canadians, youth, and visitors to our country are able to book a variety of experiences at Parks Canada’s treasured places for the 2019-2020 operating season. Whether it is booking a full serviced campsite, a yurt, an Oasis or an oTENTik, Parks Canada’s Reservation Service allows visitors to plan their trips to a wide variety of national parks and national historic sites across Canada with confidence, ease, and knowledge that they have a guaranteed spot at their favourite park or site.

While most of our campsites are booked on long weekends, reservations are still available at Fundy National Park for other weekends and weekday trips. Please refer to Parks Canada’s Reservation Service website for more information when looking to book.

Parks Canada’s places belong to all Canadians. That is why the Government of Canada is pleased to continue to offer free admission to all Parks Canada’s places for youth aged 17 and under. By encouraging young people to discover nature and connect with history, we can help to inspire the next generation of stewards for these protected places.
