Parks Canada is pleased to welcome visitors to celebrate Canada Day by connecting with history at the Battle of the Châteauguay National Historic Site. Admission is free, and there will be a variety of special events. It is sure to be an unforgettable day that will please every age!

Canada Day activities at your favourite National Historic Site!

For the occasion, the Battle of the Châteauguay National Historic Site’s team has put together a program of activities that will take place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Early birds can arrive at 10 a.m. to visit the interpretation centre in complete peace of mind. Active people who enjoy a challenge can take part in scavenger hunts, obstacle courses, and sponge battles starting at 1 p.m. With all these fun, engaging activities, you’re sure to work up an appetite! Speaking of food, locals know that the site is a beautiful spot to enjoy a picnic or a snack. And of course, it wouldn’t be a party without cake! Starting at 3 p.m., anyone with a sweet tooth can enjoy a piece of cake decorated in the colours of the maple leaf flag.

Music for everyone

The celebrations will continue into the evening with a performance at 6 p.m. by the Elgin & District Pipe Band, a group of costumed musicians who play bagpipe traditional music.

Social dance lovers won't be able to resist the Neil Mackay Band’s performance, which will take place at 7 p.m. This group of friends performs the repertoire of traditional English country music that will have you on your feet in no time! We recommend bringing your own chairs to enjoy the performance. In the event of rain, activities will take place inside the interpretation centre.

The Battle of the Châteauguay National Historic Site is located at 2371 de la Rivière-Châteauguay Road, between Howick and Ormstown. To contact the team on site, call 450-829-2003.
