News release

July 17, 2019 Lévis, Québec Parks Canada Agency
Our national historic sites reflect the rich and varied heritage of our nation and provide an opportunity for Canadians to learn more about our diverse history.
Parks Canada is proud to announce the return of the Twilight Concert, featuring La Musique du Royal 22e Régiment as well as the world renowned violinist Alexandre Da Costa, at Lévis Forts National Historic Site on July 27. This free concert conducted by Commander and music director, Captain Vincent Roy, will include popular, military and classic music under the theme “film music”. The evening will end on an explosive note with a torchlight parade and a fireworks show to conclude the concert.
Brigadier-General Christian Mercier, Deputy Commanding Officer of the 2nd Canadian Division and Joint Task Force East, will be the honorary president of the evening.
The long-awaited event, which has not taken place in the last two years due to the major works, will be the perfect opportunity for citizens to rediscover Fort No.1 and thus admire the result of this major restoration work, which was essential for the maintenance and preservation of this national historic site.
During the evening, there will also be a segment dedicated to hometown heroes. Parks Canada and Veterans Affairs Canada invite Canadians to join them in commemorating heroes of their region who made unique contributions to the war effort.
The Twilight Concert is made possible thanks to the invaluable collaboration of our partners: La Musique du Royal 22e Régiment, Ville de Lévis, Desjardins, Lévis Memorial Foundation, 6th Field Artillery Regiment and Veterans Affairs Canada. Parks Canada thanks them all for their support and contribution that allow us to offer again this year a colorful concert!
Since 2018, the Government of Canada is celebrating families with free admission to all Parks Canada’s places for youth 17 and under. Parks Canada’s national heritage places and events are a great way for Canadians to learn more about our heritage.
