Parks Canada, together with Beausoleil First Nation and the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada, will participate in a plaque unveiling ceremony to commemorate the historic significance of Beausoleil Island (Bimadinaagogi).

Beausoleil Island (Bimadinaagogi) has been a place of cultural and spiritual importance for the Anishinaabeg of southern Georgian Bay for millennia. As the setting of oral traditions, women’s ceremonies, and seasonal gatherings, as well as a site of settlement in the 19th century, it reflects the enduring relationship between the Anishinaabeg and their ancestral lands.
