Government of Canada to announce support for clean energy innovation in Alberta

January 18, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta – The Honourable Daniel Vandal, Minister of Northern Affairs, Minister responsible for Prairies Economic Development Canada and Minister responsible for the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency, and the Honourable Randy Boissonnault, Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance, will announce federal support for Alberta’s clean technology industry and an innovation hub in downtown Calgary designed to advance the development of clean energy innovations.

Minister Vandal will be joined by Mayor Jyoti Gondek, City of Calgary; Deborah Yedlin, Chancellor, University of Calgary; Dr. Ed McCauley, President and Vice-Chancellor, University of Calgary; Kevin Krausert, CEO & Co-Founder, Avatar Innovations; Alex Pourbaix, CEO of Cenovus Energy; and Jeanette Jackson, CEO, Foresight Cleantech Accelerator Centre.

Speakers will be available to answer questions from the media following the remarks.
