Minister Vandal to announce major investment to positon Edmonton as a hub for developing critical medicines and pharmaceutical products

March 16, 2023 – Edmonton, Alberta – The Honourable Dan Vandal, Minister for PrairiesCan, together with the Honourable Randy Boissonnault, Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance, will announce significant federal support for a new Edmonton-based initiative to strengthen the domestic production of critical medicines.

Joining Ministers Vandal and Boissonnault will be the Honourable Nate Glubish, Minister of Technology and Innovation, Government of Alberta; Mayor Amarjeet Sohi, City of Edmonton; Bill Flanagan, President and Vice-Chancellor, University of Alberta (speaking virtually); Andrew MacIsaac, CEO, Applied Pharmaceutical Innovation; and Dr. D. Lorne Tyrrell, Founding Director of the Li Ka Shing Institute of Virology, University of Alberta.

Speakers will be available to answer questions from the media following remarks.
