Statement from the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness on the launch of the Canadian Cyber Threat Exchange

Statement

OTTAWA, December 11, 2015  The Honourable Ralph Goodale, Canada’s Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, made the following statement regarding the launch of the new Canadian Cyber Threat Exchange (CCTX), a not-for-profit cyber security hub:

“Cyberspace provides tremendous benefits to the quality of life of Canadians and to our national prosperity. We all share in the responsibility to protect those benefits from online threats.

One of our best defences is our ability to work together and share information on existing and emerging cyber security threats, defensive techniques and other best practices.

For this reason, the Government of Canada welcomes the private sector initiative to create the CCTX. It will facilitate collaboration amongst public and private sectors in Canada and will help us to identify, prevent and mitigate cyber risks more effectively.

We look forward to working with the CCTX and its members to keep Canada and Canadians safe and secure.”
