Warning about Red River water levels

Media advisory

For immediate release

Winnipeg, Manitoba, August 21, 2018 — Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) wishes to advise the public that, as a result of very dry weather this year, water levels along the Red River (between St. Andrews Lock and Dam and the city of Winnipeg, including the Assiniboine River) are forecasted to fall below the normal summer operational levels.

Individuals operating watercraft should exercise extreme caution to avoid hazards such as rocks that would normally be submerged.

Municipalities and residents are encouraged to monitor these conditions and prepare accordingly.

PSPC thanks citizens for their collaboration and will continue to monitor weather forecasts, river flows and water levels.
