Update: Structural steel replacement project on Alexandra Bridge

Media advisory

For immediate release

Gatineau, Quebec, July 11, 2019 – Public Services and Procurement Canada wishes to advise motorists that the structural steel replacement project on the Alexandra Bridge, originally scheduled to start in June 2019, will start on July 12, 2019.

To minimize the impact on commuters during construction, work will be conducted under the bridge to eliminate permanent lane closures. However, intermittent lane closures will still be required during peak and off-peak hours.

The work is expected to be completed in August 2020. During this period, the bridge will remain safe for motorists to use, the boardwalk will remain open and pedestrian access will be uninterrupted.

We intend to keep commuters informed about the work that will be performed on bridges and lanes closures through our social media platforms and our web page on lane reductions and closures on interprovincial bridges in the National Capital Region.
