Closures of National Capital Region bridges to motorists

Gatineau, Quebec, July 29, 2025 – Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) wishes to advise motorists that the Alexandra Bridge and the Chaudière Crossing will be closed to accommodate the IRONMAN Canada-Ottawa race during the following periods:

• Alexandra Bridge: from Friday, August 1, at 9:30 am, to Monday, August 4, at noon
• Chaudière Crossing: closed towards Gatineau on Sunday, August 3, from 4 am to 1 pm
  • The crossing will remain open towards Ottawa right up to the Canadian War Museum due to the closure of the Kichi Zībī Parkway 

The Portage Bridge (northbound lane only) and the Champlain Bridge, under the stewardship of the National Capital Commission, will also be closed on Sunday, August 3, from 6 am to 4 pm.

During these periods, the bridges will remain accessible to cyclists and pedestrians.

The Macdonald-Cartier Bridge will remain open to motorists.

The schedule may change depending on weather conditions.

PSPC encourages users to exercise caution when travelling on the bridges and thanks them for their patience.
