Mid-shore multi-mission vessel
The mid-shore multi-mission vessels are designed to replace the mid-shore science vessels and address other capability gaps.
These vessels will support the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) in:
- ecosystem and marine science activities
- aids to navigation (AToN)
- hydrographic surveys
- search and rescue operations
- ice-breaking capabilities

Current status
- On March 7, 2025, Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) issued Requests for Identification (RFIDs) for single system integrators (SSI) for the mid-shore multi-mission (MSMM) propulsion system, deck equipment, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), with the intent to establish a list of qualified SSIs that would be included in the follow-on contract design solicitation. The RFIDs are planned to close on April 4, 2025.
Progress of the project
- On November 15, 2024, PSPC issued a Request for Information (RFI) to consult industry on the proposed procurement strategy and timeline
- On December 10, 2024, PSPC issued an amendment to this RFI to consult industry on proposed evaluation criteria for the design process
- Previous RFI were issued in February 2021 and December 2023
The year ahead
- Launch the competitive procurement process for the contract design in April 2025.
- Build phase industry engagement in summer of 2025
