Mid-shore multi-mission vessels
The mid-shore multi-mission vessels will replace the mid-shore science vessels and address other capability gaps.
These vessels will support the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) in:
- ecosystem and marine science activities
- aids to navigation
- hydrographic surveys
- search and rescue operations
- ice-breaking capabilities

Current status
Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) posted the mid-shore multi-mission contract design solicitation on August 15, 2025, with a closing date in fall 2025.
Progress of the project
- Request for identification (RFID) processes:
- on March 7, 2025, PSPC issued 3 separate RFIDs to establish a qualified single system integrator (SSI) for each of the following vessel systems:
- propulsion
- deck equipment
- heating, ventilation and air conditioning
- each RFID process resulted in a qualified SSI
- SSI work is intended to integrate selected key system equipment in the follow-on contract design
- on March 7, 2025, PSPC issued 3 separate RFIDs to establish a qualified single system integrator (SSI) for each of the following vessel systems:
- Request for information-C: Mid-shore multi-mission vessels:
- on November 15, 2024, PSPC issued a request for information (RFI) to consult industry on the proposed procurement strategy and timeline
- the documents included a draft of the design solicitation statement of work
- on December 10, 2024, PSPC issued an amendment to this RFI to consult industry on proposed evaluation criteria for the RFID and design solicitation
- PSPC issued previous RFIs in December 2023 (Request for information-B: Mid-shore multi-mission) and February 2021 (Request for information: Mid-shore multi-mission vessels)
The year ahead
Industry engagement for the build phase will start in the fall or winter of 2025.
