Canadian Digital Regulators Forum hosting interactive workshop

News release

May 11, 2026— Gatineau—Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC)

The Canadian Digital Regulators Forum (CDRF) is bringing together stakeholders to discuss regulatory perspectives on artificial intelligence (AI).

The CDRF is a partnership between the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), the Competition Bureau, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and the Copyright Board of Canada. It was established in June 2023 to strengthen information sharing and collaboration on matters that relate to digital markets and platforms within its members’ mandates.

With the increasing use of AI across sectors, the CDRF is facilitating a discussion with stakeholders on competition, privacy and copyright law, and telecommunications and broadcasting regulation.

The workshop will take place on May 21, 2026, from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm (EDT).

What the workshop will cover

Participants will engage in discussions on the impact of AI in their field and anticipated evolutions over the next five years, and will explore opportunities for collaboration.

The workshop will include a panel discussion with CDRF members:

  • Philippe Dufresne, Privacy Commissioner of Canada
  • Vicky Eatrides, Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer, CRTC
  • Drew Olsen, Vice-Chair and Chief Executive Officer, Copyright Board of Canada
  • Jeanne Pratt, Interim Commissioner of Competition, Competition Bureau

The workshop will also feature Policy Horizons Canada, the Government of Canada’s centre of excellence in foresight.
