Director’s biography
David Vigneault was appointed Director in June 2017. The Director is responsible to the Minister of Public Safety Canada for the control and management of the Service.
In December 2012, Mr. Vigneault joined the Privy Council Office as the Assistant Secretary to the Cabinet, Security and Intelligence. He also served as Secretary to the Cabinet Committee on Intelligence and Emergency Management.
Prior to that, Mr. Vigneault had been with the Canada Border Services Agency since May 2010 as the Associate Vice-President, Programs Branch.
In December 2006, he held the position of Assistant Director, Secretariat at the Canadian Security Intelligence Service. He was appointed Assistant Director, Intelligence, in June 2009.
Mr. Vigneault has held various positions within the Department of National Defence related to policy development and intelligence, including as Executive Assistant to the Deputy Minister of National Defence.
David has a master’s degree in political science from the Université de Montréal.
