Species at risk: Permit applications
A permit is required to conduct an activity that could affect a wildlife species at risk listed on schedule 1 of the Species at Risk Act (SARA) as extirpated, endangered or threatened, its residence or any part of its critical habitat.
See the different permitting systems below to apply for a permit, depending on the species you will affect and where your activity will take place:
- Parks Canada’s research and collection permit system: if your research activity may affect a listed species within national parks and reserves, historic sites or marine conservation areas.
- Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s permit system: if your activity may affect a listed aquatic species, outside a Parks Canada site.
- Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Canadian Wildlife Service permit system for all other activities that may affect a listed species on federal lands.
