SSC's GC AI Platform is a sovereign, Canadian-built solution that gives the Government of Canada (GC) the tools and infrastructure needed to safely build and use artificial intelligence (AI) solutions.
It brings everything together in one place—secure computing power, data storage, and AI tools—so GC workers can work confidently.

What is the new GC AI platform?
The GC AI platform is a sovereign Canadian platform designed to deliver secure and trusted AI infrastructure and applications for the Government of Canada. Fundamentally, it's designed to reduce our reliance on foreign control, services and technology.
So first and foremost, CANChat will be available, rolled out across a broader section of government, so that will be the first set of tools. And then in working with departments and stakeholders, we can figure out what applications can be built upon this platform and made available to fundamentally anybody who has access to our Government of Canada infrastructure and cloud networks.
The major advantage for the Government of Canada is the security and sovereignty of the AI platform. We are no longer wholly dependent on additional actors of foreign governments, foreign corporations. We bring that in-house so we begin to get that level of security. We can then tailor it to government-specific needs and government-specific features, while we also can scale it securely and we can actually address economics and cost operations.

With SSC’s platform, departments and agencies can:

This is what end users interact with directly. Future AI apps developed for government are added in when ready to use.
