Shared Services Canada (SSC) is the Government of Canada’s (GC) IT service provider and the second-largest procurement department.
As the largest IT organization in Canada, we award over $3.7 billion in IT procurement annually, supporting the delivery of programs and services for Canadians.
What we buy
We buy a wide range of IT products and services, including:
- network and infrastructure: switches, routers, fibre optics, leased dark fibre, security threat technologies, and satellite services
- data centres: servers, storage, mainframes, converged infrastructure, software maintenance and support, co-location, and workload migration services
- cloud services: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS)
- telecommunications: local and long-distance telephone services, toll-free numbers, Internet access, conferencing services, contact centres, cellular services, and satellite services
- hardware and software: desktops, microcomputers, printers, scanners, and productivity and security software
- digital tools: collaboration platforms and IT service management tools
- professional services: when required, consulting and technical expertise to support shared IT services

Our mandate
Under the Shared Services Canada Act and Order in Council 2015-1071, we have a mandate to buy IT goods and services on behalf of many federal departments.
