Canadian students prepare their CubeSats for launch

Demain, des étudiants de l’Université de Victoria et de l'Université Dalhousie seront à l'Agence spatiale canadienne pour finir de préparer leur CubeSat en vue du lancement. Ce sont les premiers participants de l'Initiative canadienne CubeSats à franchir cette étape majeure : leur satellite miniature a passé les tests de qualification préalables à la mise en orbite, qui se fera depuis la Station spatiale internationale.

Longueuil, Quebec, June 28, 2022 — On June 29, 2022, Canadian students from Dalhousie University and the University of Victoria will be at Canadian Space Agency (CSA) headquarters to finalize the preparation of their CubeSats for launch. They are the first students from the Canadian CubeSat Project (CCP) to reach this important milestone, confirming their miniature satellites are qualified to be launched into space and deployed from the International Space Station.

Under the CCP, 15 teams of students from each province and territory designed and built their own CubeSat with the guidance of CSA experts, as well as representatives from the Canadian space industry.

Media are invited to the CSA to capture footage of the integration of Dalhousie University’s LORIS (Low Orbit Reconnaissance Imagery Satellite) and the University of Victoria’s ORCASat (Optical and radio calibration of atmospheric attenuation CubeSat).
