Media advisory

Longueuil, Quebec,  — On at 6:46 a.m. ET, the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission is set to launch on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. Media representatives can watch live coverage of the launch on NASA TV starting at 6:00 a.m. ET.

Led by NASA and France's space agency, CNES (Centre national d'études spatiales), SWOT will survey 90% of the Earth's surface water and provide the scientific community with data that will help to address the impacts of climate change and improve water management.

The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) will host a media briefing at the John H. Chapman Space Centre following the launch. The briefing will focus on Canada's contribution and science objectives. A media question-and-answer session will follow. CSA experts, Canadian scientists, and an industry representative will be available on site for interviews.
