Longueuil, Quebec,  — The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) is highlighting this year's International Day of Women and Girls in Science by showcasing strong role models and taking part in various events and meeting with youth.

Watch this brand new video of Jagriti Luitel, who came to New Brunswick from Nepal. Her interest in space grew when she learned that satellite imagery was used for rescue operations after an earthquake shook her home country. Jagriti started working as a student intern at the CSA in January.

Events

Join us at these events!

  • The Saskatchewan Science Centre has organized the Girls in STEAM Conference. Kristen Facciol, Flight Controller at the CSA, will give a virtual keynote presentation.

  • The Montreal Science Centre will host a day of activities and events. The CSA will have a kiosk and conduct a hands-on activity.
  • Western University is hosting Girls and Women in Astronomy Night. Parshati Patel, Program Designer and Education Advisor, Youth STEM Initiatives at the CSA, will be a panelist.
  • The Canadian Association for Girls in Science (CAGIS) is holding a virtual panel. Kumudu Jinadasa, Program Lead, Astronauts, Life Sciences and Space Medicine at the CSA, will be one of the panelists.
  • SEDS and the Women in Robotics Ontario Chapter are holding a Women in Space Robotics webinar. Chelsea Taylor, Engineer, Operations at the CSA, will be one of the panelists. It will be livestreamed on YouTube from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET.
