Becoming a Canadian Special Operations Forces Command (CANSOFCOM) member is a commitment for you and your family. Our different communities offer a variety of programs and services to meet yours and your family’s needs. CANSOFCOM units are based in the communities of Ottawa, Petawawa and Trenton.
If you have a family
CANSOFCOM deploys personnel around the world. Many Canadian security missions require stringent operational security policies. CANSOFCOM members must provide little to no deployment details to their families. Despite this, CANSOFCOM ensures adequate communications between its members and their families during deployments and provides support services at all times.
Operational tempo within CANSOFCOM can differ depending on the position and unit in which you are employed. Some members can be expected to be away from home for short periods of time on exercise throughout the year or on operational deployments which can vary from weeks to months.
CANSOFCOM understands that deployments can be challenging for families and has resources in place to help. Across CANSOFCOM, Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) personnel are assigned to provide support to CANSOFCOM families. These personnel offer excellent assistance to families when required.
All CANSOFCOM activities are conducted within the limits of Canadian law. The Government of Canada authorizes the missions and general tasks undertaken by CANSOFCOM at all times.
