Minister Garneau announces appointments and reappointments in the transportation sector

The Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport, today announced the following appointments and reappointments. The appointees come from diverse backgrounds, with experience in a number of fields, and are active members of their communities. They bring a wide array of knowledge and senior executive and corporate governance expertise to the transportation portfolio.

Great Lakes Pilotage Authority:

  • Ms. Danièle Dion, Montréal, Quebec (newly appointed as Chairperson; term of five years).

Laurentian Pilotage Authority:

  • Mr. Ricky Fontaine, Québec, Quebec (newly appointed as Chairperson; term of five years).

Atlantic Pilotage Authority:

  • Ms. Anne Galbraith, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia (reappointed as Chairperson; term of one year or until such time as a new Chairperson is appointed);
  • Captain Edward Anthony, St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador (reappointed as Member; term of four years);
  • Ms. Alisa Aymar, Meteghan River, Nova Scotia (reappointed as Member; term of three years);
  • Captain John McCann, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia (newly appointed as Member; term of four years);
  • Ms. Kathryn Craig, Saint John, New Brunswick (newly appointed as Member; term of three years);
  • Mr. Vivek Saxena, Antigonish, Nova Scotia (newly appointed as Member; term of four years).

Marine Atlantic Inc.:

  • Ms. Janie Bussey, Logy Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador (newly appointed as Director; term of four years);
  • Mr. Brent Chaffey, St. David’s, Newfoundland and Labrador (newly appointed as Director; term of four years);
  • Mr. Owen Fitzgerald, Sydney, Nova Scotia (newly appointed as Director; term of three years);
  • Mr. Gary O’Brien, Channel-Port aux Basques, Newfoundland and Labrador (newly appointed as Director; term of four years);
  • Mr. Craig Priddle, Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador (newly appointed as Director; term of three years);
  • Ms. Ann-Margret White, St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador (newly appointed as Director; term of three years).

St John’s Port Authority:

  • Mr. Michael John Crosbie, St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador (reappointed as Director; term of two years).

Saguenay Port Authority:

  • Ms. Lina Boivin, Chicoutimi, Quebec (newly appointed as Director; term of three years).

Vancouver-Fraser Port Authority:

  • Ms. Joanne McLeod, Vancouver, British Columbia (newly appointed as Director; term of three years);
  • Ms. Judy Rogers, Vancouver, British Columbia (newly appointed as Director; term of three years).

 

These appointments are part of the rigorous new approach to Governor in Council appointments. The approach uses open, transparent and merit-based selection processes to support ministers in making appointment recommendations for positions within their portfolio that strive for gender parity and reflect Canada’s diversity.
