Government of Canada investing in safety at the Hall Beach Airport

Canadians, tourists and businesses benefit from safe and well-maintained airports. From visiting friends and family, to travelling to medical appointments, or getting goods to market, we rely on our local airports to support and sustain vibrant communities. These airports also provide essential air services including community resupply, air ambulance, search and rescue and forest fire response.
Deb Schulte, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Revenue and Member of Parliament for King — Vaughan, on behalf of the Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport, today announced a Government of Canada investment to rehabilitate airside surfaces and upgrade lighting at the Hall Beach Airport.
The investment of $9,973,717 includes the removal of all surfaces, grading and compacting new crushed aggregate on the runway, taxiway and apron; installing new edge lighting for the runway, taxiway and apron; runway identification lighting, illuminated windcones and guidance signs for the taxiway; precision approach slope indicators; a new field electrical centre complete with all airfield lighting power and control equipment; and apron floodlighting.
Well maintained runways, taxiways and aprons ensure safe usage by aircraft, passengers, and crews, and help protect costly airport safety assets, such as snow clearing equipment, during airport operations.
