Minister Alghabra announces appointments and reappointments in the transportation sector

The Minister of Transport, the Honourable Omar Alghabra, today announced appointments and reappointments in the transportation sector. The appointees come from diverse backgrounds, with experience in a number of fields, and are active members in their communities. They bring a wide array of knowledge and senior executive and corporate governance expertise to their transportation positions.

Great Lakes Pilotage Authority

  • James Donald Pound (St. Catharines, Ontario), appointed as the Chairperson for a term of five years.

Montreal Port Authority

  • John Edward Parisella (Montréal, Quebec) reappointed as the Federal Director for a term of three years.

Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada

  • Jim Parsons (St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador) reappointed as a part-time member for a term of four years; and
  • Gary Drouin (Chelsea, Quebec) reappointed as a part-time member for a term of four years.

Vancouver Fraser Port Authority

  • James Alexander Belsheim (West Vancouver, British Columbia), appointed as a User Director for a term of two years;
  • Catherine Irene McLay (Surrey, British Columbia), reappointed as a User Director for a term of three years;
  • Joanne Marnie McLeod (Vancouver, British Columbia), reappointed as a User Director for a term of three years;
  • Craig Thomas Munroe (North Vancouver, British Columbia), reappointed as the Federal Director for a term of three years; and
  • Margaret Judy Rogers (Vancouver, British Columbia), reappointed as a User Director for a term of three years.

These individuals were appointed under the Government of Canada's open, transparent and merit-based Governor-in-Council appointment process, striving for gender parity and seeking to reflect Canada’s diversity.
