Below are the four Ontario projects in receipt of funding under the Green Shipping Corridor Program’s Clean Ports stream. Overall, these projects focus on shore power solutions, alternative fuel solutions and fueling infrastructure, and/or aim to support both shore-power and alternative fuel solutions.

Great Lakes Marine Biofuel Terminal The project will construct a 12-acre, 8-million-litre biofuel terminal in Port Colborne, Ontario, on land managed by the Hamilton-Oshawa Port Authority that will be operated in partnership with Canada Clean Fuels and Canada Steamship Line, offering refueling infrastructure within the Great Lakes region. |

Greener Fuels for our Greener Future Initiative The project will modify existing infrastructure, procure, install, and construct additional fuelling infrastructure in Windsor, and Hamilton to contribute to establishing a green shipping corridor within the Great Lakes region. |

Port of Algoma Project The project will conduct a study and related assessments regarding the possibility of creating a new public port, which will be strategically placed within the network of the Great Lakes region. |

Shore Power Project The project will install shore power charging facilities to enable vessels to recharge their onboard batteries while docked, reducing reliance on auxiliary engines, and minimizing emissions. The shore power charging facilities will support vessels travelling along the Great Lakes and St-Lawrence region supporting the creation of a green shipping corridor in this area. |
