Government of Canada commemorates Canada’s Hundred Days at local college and Thomas Ricketts, VC, at Kiwanis-Thomas Ricketts Memorial Peace Park
St. John’s, NL – The Honourable Seamus O’Regan, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, will participate in a learning activity with students from St. Bonaventure’s College and doctoral candidate Christopher Reid on the morning of October 12, 2018. The activity will be followed by the unveiling of a plaque dedicated to Captain Robert Kent, M.C., a former student of the college. The Minister will also launch the new 2018 Veterans’ Week poster with the students from the college.
On the afternoon of October 14, 2018, Minister O’Regan will attend a ceremony, led by the Kiwanis Club of Kelligrews and the Kiwanis-Thomas Ricketts Memorial Peace Park Committee, paying tribute to Victoria Cross recipient Thomas Ricketts. He will be accompanied by a representative from the government of Newfoundland and Labrador, and His Worship Terry French, Mayor of Conception Bay South.
The media are invited to attend the morning event at St. Bonaventure’s College.
