Behind-the-scenes tour of The Edge of Peace exhibit for media

Media advisory

Ottawa ON Media are invited to a behind-the-scenes tour of the new, interactive, commemorative exhibit—The Edge of Peace. On November 5, 2018. Lucion Média, the Canadian company that created this modern presentation, will provide media a guided tour through the multimedia presentation at Confederation Park in Ottawa.

This unique exhibit consists of several luminous spheres of various sizes that, together, form a “moonGARDEN.” It uses images, light and shadow, dramatic narrative and music to present a 14-minute, thought-provoking reflection on the price of freedom and the fragility of peace. Projected on luminous spheres, four First World War soldiers reflect on their experience, while a recently bereaved composer struggles to find consolation by creating and performing her new song. Themes presented in the exhibit include the 100th anniversary of Canada’s Hundred Days and the First World War Armistice, the continued courage and sacrifice of Canadian service personnel, and the fragile nature of peace.

The exhibit, which runs daily from dusk until 10:30 p.m., encourages visitors to share their remembrance messages by texting them to the Speak Tree, an ever-growing, virtual, 3-D tree displayed on one of the spheres. Canadians across the country can also share their messages via text to 438-800-0471 and they will appear on the Speak Tree which will also be featured on the VAC Canada Remembers Facebook page.
