Ceremony in Ottawa to mark 75^th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy

Ottawa, ON – Lieutenant-General (ret’d) the Honourable Andrew Leslie, PC, CMM, MSC, MSM, CD, MP, MA; Jérôme Bresson, Ministre Conseiller of the Embassy of France; Defence Attaché Brigadier Nicholas Orr of the British High Commission; D-Day and the Battle of Normandy Veterans and their guests and Canadian youth will participate in a ceremony at the National War Memorial to mark the 75^th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy, and to remember those who served and sacrificed for our freedom. The public will be invited to lay wreaths.

As well as the 75^th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy, 2019 marks the 5^th anniversary of the end of Canada’s Mission in Afghanistan, and the 75^th anniversaries of the Battle of the Scheldt and the Italian Campaign during the Second World War.
