Ceremony in Ottawa to mark 75th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy

Ottawa, ON – Lieutenant-General (ret’d) the Honourable Andrew Leslie, PC, CMM, MSC, MSM, CD, MP, MA; Jérôme Bresson, Ministre Conseiller of the Embassy of France; Defence Attaché Brigadier Nicholas Orr of the British High Commission; D-Day and the Battle of Normandy Veterans and their guests and Canadian youth will participate in a ceremony at the National War Memorial to mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy, and to remember those who served and sacrificed for our freedom. The public will be invited to lay wreaths.

As well as the 75th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy, 2019 marks the 5th anniversary of the end of Canada’s Mission in Afghanistan, and the 75th anniversaries of the Battle of the Scheldt and the Italian Campaign during the Second World War.
