Minister Petitpas Taylor to participate in ceremony commemorating National Peacekeepers’ Day

Ottawa, ON – The Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence, will participate in a commemorative event at the National Peacekeeping Monument (The Reconciliation) to mark National Peacekeepers’ Day.  

National Peacekeepers’ Day was established in Canada in 2008 and provides an opportunity for Canadians to express the pride and respect they have toward members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and provincial and municipal police forces, as well as Canadian diplomats and civilians who have worked in support of international peace and security questions.

Since 1948, more than 125,000 CAF and over 4,000 RCMP members have served in dozens of international peace support missions to more than 35 countries.
