Solido Design Automation of Saskatoon receives $1.8 million for technology commercialization
May 12, 2017 – Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Western Economic Diversification Canada
The Government of Canada is providing $1.8 million through the Western Innovation (WINN) Initiative for Solido Design Automation Inc. to expand and accelerate the development and commercialization of their machine learning-based software products used to make electronic chips.
The Honourable Bardish Chagger, Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Minister of Small Business and Tourism, made the announcement today during a visit to Solido’s new state-of-the-art software headquarters in Saskatoon’s Innovation Place technology park. She made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for Western Economic Diversification Canada.
Machine learning is a branch of artificial intelligence. Solido’s machine learning-based software, used to design chips in electronic devices, will improve chip performance, energy efficiency, size and yield in production. Customers who use this technology to build devices such as smartphones and tablets will increase productivity while also reducing costs and time required to bring new products to market.
