Federal funding supports manufacturing and digital technology in Manitoba

Over $4 million in federal funding will impact value added manufacturing and digital technology capacity in Manitoba
August 4, 2021 – Winnipeg, Manitoba – Western Economic Diversification Canada
Small and medium-sized enterprises contribute to the growth of Western Canada’s economy. The Government of Canada is supporting businesses as they continue operations during the COVID-19 pandemic, increase productivity, find new markets, and create opportunities for Manitobans.
Today, Terry Duguid, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages (Western Economic Diversification Canada) and to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change (Canada Water Agency), on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages, and Minister responsible for Western Economic Diversification Canada, announced $4,156,410 in funding for four projects in Manitoba:
- Diemo Machine Works Inc. will receive $1,520,000 through the Business Scale-up and Productivity program to integrate advanced technologies that enhance production efficiencies and enable the expansion of manufacturing capacity.
- Keystone Granite, Inc. will receive $1,168,500 through the Business Scale-up and Productivity program to increase stone fabrication capacity within a new production facility.
- Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology will receive $1,305,529 through the Regional Innovation Ecosystems program for the Institute to establish a skills development and training initiative in cyber security.
- Micro Traffic Inc. will receive $162,381 through the Regional Relief and Recovery Fund to continue operations during COVID-19 pandemic.
The Government of Canada is committed to helping small and medium-sized enterprises increase productivity, grow, and compete in the global marketplace. These investments are expected to result in increased production capacity, training of 85 highly qualified personnel, and the creation of 46 jobs.
