Dr. Julielynn Wong

Dr. Julielynn Wong is a Toronto-based physician-scientist, educator, journalist, pilot, and inventor. She founded 3D4MD in 2010 and pioneered the development and use of locally reproducible, affordable, high-fidelity 3D printed simulators and user-friendly checklists for globally accessible simulation-based surgical skills training. Her work empowers healthcare providers anywhere in the world at any stage of their career to perform procedures to prevent needless suffering, disability, and deaths for the 5 billion people worldwide who lack access to safe, timely, and affordable surgical care.
Dr. Wong 3D printed the first medical supplies off-Earth onboard the International Space Station. She is an award-winning humanitarian innovator who founded Medical Makers, a global community that makes and supports bold, creative, and locally led lifesaving and life-improving solutions. These enable systems-level change for vulnerable populations while advancing the human rights principles of equality, non-discrimination, participation, inclusion, equity, transparency, and accountability.
