$15 million for new 2SLGBTQI+ Projects Fund announced in Budget 2021
- An open Call for Proposals for the 2SLGBTQI+ Projects Fund was held from May 17 to June 30, 2022. Projects support community-informed initiatives that address key challenges and advance equality for 2SLGBTQI+ people.
$75 million in new program funding announced in federal 2SLGBTQI+ Action Plan for organizations working to advance 2SLGBTQI+ equality
- Up $40 million to enhance WAGE’s Community Capacity Fund, which supports initiatives that strengthen 2SLGBTQI+ community organizations.
- Previous funding for the 2SLGBTQI+ Community Capacity Fund has supported 77 organizations in building their capacity through things like establishing formal networks, becoming legally constituted, developing strategic and financial plans, improving knowledge about the needs of 2SLGBTQI+ communities, and improving leaders’ technical skills so they can effectively run their organizations.
- Up to $7.5 million in 2SLGBTQI+ Action Plan funds extended capacity-building initiatives to 2023 to ensure that 2SLGBTQI+ organizations could continue to strengthen their capacity and networks.
- An open Call for Proposals for the 2SLGBTQI+ Community Capacity Fund was held from March 13 to May 9, 2023. The Call for Proposals supported 2SLGBTQI+ organizations in building their capacity.
- Up $35 million to enhance WAGE’s Projects Fund, which supports community-informed initiatives aimed at addressing specific barriers to 2SLGBTQI+ equality.
- Previous funding for the 2SLGBTQI+ Projects Fund has supported organizations to undertake community-informed initiatives that address key challenges and advance equality for 2SLGBTQI+ people. Funding is supporting a range of projects to address discriminatory policies and practices, enhance support for 2SLGBTQI+ people and challenge harmful norms and attitudes.
- This new funding includes $1.5 million in emergency funding to help pride organizations cover the increasing security costs at Pride events this year.
