2SLGBTQI+ Projects Fund
The 2SLGBTQI+ Projects Fund advances the equality of 2SLGBTQI+ communities.
Community-informed projects address the needs and inequities faced by 2SLGBTQI+ communities and include activities such as:
- Changing laws, policies, or practices
- Working with service providers
- Working to address hate toward 2SLGBTQI+ people
- Engaging the community to address their main issues
Funded projects
The Federal 2SLGBTQI+ Action Plan allocated up to $35 million over five years (2022-2027) to support a range of projects that are addressing discriminatory policies and practices, enhancing support for 2SLGBTQI+ communities, and challenging harmful norms and attitudes.
For example, some organizations are using this funding to:
- Improve access to resources for Indigenous 2SLGBTQI+ communities
- Amplify transgender voices to increase their access to leadership positions
- Give caregivers (social worker, nurse, doctor, etc.) the tools needed to apply an inclusive approach in their work
- Map regional services for 2SLGBTQI+ communities
- Use technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to lower and stop the spread of online hate against 2SLGBTQI+ communities
- Support conversion therapy victims and survivors in their recovery by equipping them with resources and available services.
