Backgrounder: Funding supports three Indigenous women’s and 2SLGBTQQIA+ organizations to increase their capacity to prevent and address gender-based violence

June 27, 2023 – Ottawa, Ontario

In January 2022, Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) launched a call for proposals to bolster the capacity of Indigenous women’s and 2SLGBTQQIA+ organizations to provide gender-based violence (GBV) prevention programming in order to address the root causes of violence.

The following three organizations received funding:

Tewegan Housing for Aboriginal Youth

Funding amount: $394,740

Tungasuvvingat inuit

Ottawa, Ontario

Project name: Training and Professional Development – GBV and Board Governance Training
