Backgrounder – Government of Canada announces support for 18 Alberta-based organizations to advance gender equality

Backgrounder

January 9, 2024 – Edmonton, Alberta — Women and Gender Equality Canada

Today, Women and Gender Equality Canada announced close to $7.3 million for organizations located in Alberta and across the country. The funding for these initiatives is from four funding streams, as identified below.

1. Increasing the capacity of Indigenous women and 2SLGBTQQIA+ organizations to address gender-based violence

The funding will benefit the following Indigenous women’s and 2SLGBTQQIA+ organizations to bolster their capacity to provide gender-based violence prevention programming to address the root causes of violence:
