Administrative Tribunals Support Service of Canada Report on Annual Expenditures for Travel, Hospitality and Conferences (THC) 2015-16

Annual Expenditures for Travel, Hospitality and Conferences (THC) 2015-16 (PDF)

As required by the Treasury Board Directive on Travel, Hospitality, Conference and Event Expenditures, this report provides information on the Administrative Tribunals Support Service of Canada (ATSSC) annual expenditures for travel, hospitality and conferences for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2016. It also provides explanations for the variances from the previous fiscal year in each of these areas.

This information is updated annually and does not contain information withheld under the Access to Information Act or the Privacy Act.

Travel, hospitality and conference expenditures incurred by federal departments and agencies are related to activities that support a departmental or agency mandate and the government’s priorities.

The ATSSC is responsible for providing support services and facilities to 11 federal administrative tribunals by way of a single, integrated organization.

These services include the specialized services required by each tribunal (e.g. registry, research and analysis, legal and other mandate or case activities specific to each tribunal), as well as internal services (e.g. human resources, financial services, information management and technology, accommodations, security, planning and communications).

Further information on the mandate, program activities and enabling instrument of the ATSSC can be found by accessing the Report on Plans and Priorities and the Departmental Performance Report.

Significant variances compared to the previous fiscal year

Although the ATSSC is providing information about expenditures incurred in 2014–15 and 2015–16, it is unable to provide variance explanations between fiscal years as 2015–16 is not comparable with 2014–15 for the following reasons:

  • the ATSSC’s expenditures for 2014–15 consisted of consolidated transactions that were incurred by 11 former departments, as the ATSSC did not have its own financial system at the time; and
  • 2015–16 was the ATSSC’s first complete year of operations.

The ATSSC will include explanations of variances in subsequent annual reports.
