Saskatchewan Students Awarded Agriculture Scholarships

May 15, 2019 – Regina, Saskatchewan – Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada

Today Federal Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister, Marie-Claude Bibeau, and Saskatchewan Agriculture Minister, David Marit, awarded four agriculture scholarships to students from across the province. The Agriculture Student Scholarship Program identifies young people who are advocates for agriculture and leverages their passion and ability to tell the story of Saskatchewan agriculture.

Caylee Dorval of Glaslyn, Saskatchewan, received $4,000 towards her agriculture-related post-secondary studies as the grand-prize winner of the 2019 Agriculture Student Scholarship. Caylee’s winning video submission discusses her role in the family ranch, and her pride in the beef they raise.

Madison McNeil of Alameda, Saskatchewan, Morgan Davey of Delisle, Saskatchewan, and Kaitlyn Sauser of Churchbridge, Saskatchewan, received runner-up scholarships valued at $2,000 each.

  • The 2019 Agriculture Student Scholarship Program was announced during Agriculture Month 2018, and focused on the theme “Our Food Has a Story.”

  • The Agriculture Student Scholarship Program is funded through the Public Trust pillar of the Canadian Agricultural Partnership and supports the Awareness and Engagement pillars of the Ministry’s Public Trust Strategy. The federal-provincial Partnership is a five-year, $388 million investment in strategic initiatives for Saskatchewan agriculture.
