Chief Warrant Officer Debbie Martens

Chief Warrant Officer Debbie Martens enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in May 1989. Upon completion of basic training at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Cornwallis, Performance Oriented Electronics Training and Radio Technician training at the Canadian Forces School of Communications and Electronics at CFB Kingston, she was posted to CFB North Bay, where she worked on the FYQ-93 mainframe computer system. While in North Bay, she supported the Wing and the community as a member of the 22 Wing Ground Search and Rescue team.

In 1996, she was posted to Aerospace and Telecommunications Engineering Support Squadron at CFB Trenton where she was employed as an airfield equipment technician, completing installations in Goose Bay, Borden, Debert, Alert and Eureka.

In 2002, she was posted to the Canadian Forces Support Training Group at CFB Borden where she served for three years as a Network Administrator.

Promoted to Sergeant in 2005, she was posted to 4 Wing Cold Lake and held the positions of Information Management Supervisor and Communications Maintenance Supervisor at the Wing Telecommunications and Information Services Squadron. It was here that she deployed with Joint Task Force Afghanistan as the Theatre Support Element Wide Area Network and Helpdesk Supervisor.

In 2009, she was promoted to Warrant Officer and subsequently posted to Canadian Forces Information Operations Group Headquarters at Canadian Forces Station Leitrim, where she was employed as a Life Cycle Material Manager for Signal Intelligence equipment. Promoted to Master Warrant Officer in 2012, she moved across the road to the Canadian Forces Network Operations Centre as the Technical Security Inspection Team Manager.

Promoted to her current rank in June 2016, she was posted to 4 Wing Cold Lake and assumed the role of Wing Operations Branch Chief Warrant Officer.

In August 2017, CWO Martens deployed as the Air Task Force Chief Warrant Officer as part of Operation REASSURANCE – Romania.

On 24 April 2019, she was appointed 22 Wing, Wing Chief Warrant Officer.

CWO Martens assumed her current position as Chief Warrant Officer of 3 Canadian Space Division in July 2022.
